Saskatchewan, known as Canada’s sunniest province, is also the country’s “chattiest”, according to a new ranking by Primus Telecommunications Canada, Canada’s largest alternative telecommunications carrier, which tracked the average number of monthly minutes residents spend on long distance calls. Primus found Saskatchewanians talk an average of 326 minutes per month, 44 minutes more than folks in Newfoundland & Labrador, which came in second at 282 minutes. Rounding out the list of 10 provinces:

“Technology has reduced the cost of long distance calling dramatically, allowing our customers to stay connected to friends, family and business contacts around the country and around the world,” said Rob Warden, Vice President, Residential Sales and Marketing at Primus Telecommunications Canada.  “Perhaps Saskatchewanians have more to say than Manitobans.  Or perhaps Manitobans simply say what they have to say faster.” 

The findings are based on an analysis of the usage of Primus’ several hundred thousand long distance customers across Canada.  Long distance calls include domestic calls as well as out-of-country calls.
