Remote E-Mail Retrieval: Outlook 2000

These instructions will configure Outlook 2000 so that a Primus Customer will be able to retrieve their e-mail from another connection.

  1. Configuring a new profile.
  2. Modifying an existing profile.

Configuring a new profile

  1. Run Outlook 2000.
  2. Click on Tools, then Services....
  3. Click on the Add button, and select Internet E-mail.
  4. Type the name by which you would like to refer to these servers. For most users, this will be Primus.ca.
  5. Type your name in the Name: box. (optional).
  6. Type your full email address in the E-mail address: box. For most users, if will be in the username@primus.ca.
  7. Do the same for the Reply Address.
  8. Click on the Servers tab.
  9. Make sure that the Incoming mail (POP3) box contains the correct server name, for most users it will be pop.primus.ca.
  10. Make sure that the Outgoing mail (SMTP) box contains the correct server name, for most users it will be smtp.primus.ca.
  11. Type your full email address in the Account name: box. For most users, if will be in the username@primus.ca.
  12. Type your password in the Password: box.
  13. Make sure that My server requires authentication checkbox is filled.
  14. Click on OK to save the changes that you have just made. You’re done!

Modifying an existing profile

  1. Run Outlook 2000.
  2. Click on Tools, then Services.
  3. Select the profile that you wish to modify, for most users will will be Internet E-mail - Primus.ca.
  4. Click on Properties.
  5. Click on the Servers tab.
  6. Make sure that the Incoming mail (POP3) box contains the correct server name, for most users it will be pop.primus.ca.
  7. Make sure that the Outgoing mail (SMTP) box contains the correct server name, for most users it will be smtp.primus.ca.
  8. Make sure that My server requires authentication checkbox is filled.
  9. Click OK to save the changes you just made, you should be able to send and receive your Primus.ca email from anywhere.
