Remote E-Mail Retrieval: Outlook 2000
These instructions will configure Outlook 2000 so that a Primus Customer will be able to retrieve their e-mail from another connection.
Configuring a new profile
- Run Outlook 2000.
- Click on Tools, then Services....
- Click on the Add button, and select Internet E-mail.
- Type the name by which you would like to refer to these servers. For most users, this will be Primus.ca.
- Type your name in the Name: box. (optional).
- Type your full email address in the E-mail address: box. For most users, if will be in the username@primus.ca.
- Do the same for the Reply Address.
- Click on the Servers tab.
- Make sure that the Incoming mail (POP3) box contains the correct server name, for most users it will be pop.primus.ca.
- Make sure that the Outgoing mail (SMTP) box contains the correct server name, for most users it will be smtp.primus.ca.
- Type your full email address in the Account name: box. For most users, if will be in the username@primus.ca.
- Type your password in the Password: box.
- Make sure that My server requires authentication checkbox is filled.
- Click on OK to save the changes that you have just made. You’re done!
Modifying an existing profile
- Run Outlook 2000.
- Click on Tools, then Services.
- Select the profile that you wish to modify, for most users will will be Internet E-mail - Primus.ca.
- Click on Properties.
- Click on the Servers tab.
- Make sure that the Incoming mail (POP3) box contains the correct server name, for most users it will be pop.primus.ca.
- Make sure that the Outgoing mail (SMTP) box contains the correct server name, for most users it will be smtp.primus.ca.
- Make sure that My server requires authentication checkbox is filled.
- Click OK to save the changes you just made, you should be able to send and receive your Primus.ca email from anywhere.
